Max Blakesberg

Photographer | Boca Raton, Florida

Max Blakesberg works in the quiet space where reality blurs into memory. Rooted in a life spent in and around the ocean, his practice revolves around the elemental forces that shape us; water, light, motion, and the shifting states between them. Working with a mix of digital and analog photography, he chases the in-between: the split second where something real becomes something remembered.

Max’s photographs are as much about the moment itself as the feeling that lingers after it. He’s drawn to thresholds, moments that last a moment, but leave a fleeting impression on you before departure. The instant before a wave breaks, the breath held underwater, the flicker of movement that disappears as quickly as it appears. Through color, texture, and intentional imperfection, Max builds scenes that feel intimate, cinematic, and slightly surreal — as if they were pulled from the edges of memory rather than observed in real time.

Much of his curiosity comes from watching how light shapes everything it touches — bodies, objects, water, sky — and the way those interactions reveal character and mood. His fine art work is also driven by a desire to understand both the world outside of us and the personal mechanisms within us: the instincts, tensions, and quiet forces that guide how we move through our own lives. His images invite the viewer into that same exploration, offering moments that feel suspended, familiar, and quietly transformed.
