I’ve always been creative and dabbled in art growing up, but for most of my adult life, I followed a much more traditional path. I studied business psychology and marketing at the University of Michigan and went on to build a career in marketing in New York. Art was always something I loved, but it wasn’t until 2024 that I really picked up a pencil again and began creating consistently.
I started by drawing portraits of celebrities and sharing them on social media. From there, one idea kept leading to another. Portraits evolved into digital illustrations and prints, which eventually expanded into watercolor, acrylic and textured work, murals, and collaborations with brands and restaurants. What began with a pencil quickly became a much broader creative practice.
That evolution has been shaped in large part by a willingness to say yes. I’ve been fortunate to have people take chances on me and trust me with projects that pushed me beyond what I had done before, whether that meant working in a new medium, at a larger scale, or in an entirely unfamiliar format. Rather than being deterred by not having done something before, I’ve learned to see those opportunities as an invitation to figure it out. That openness has shaped both the artist I’ve become and the range of work I create today.
My subject matter is similarly varied, but much of it begins with the things and places I’m naturally drawn to: restaurants, cities, travel, food, fashion, architecture, and the small details that give a place its identity. Alongside my more illustrative work, I create abstract and textured pieces that allow me to explore color, form, and dimension in a completely different way.
I’m particularly interested in the emotional connection people form with places and experiences. A restaurant is rarely just a restaurant; it can hold memories of a first date, a birthday, or years of dinners with friends. A city scene can transport someone back to a trip or a particular period of their life. I love that I can create a piece from my own perspective and have someone else see an entirely different story in it.
Perhaps the most surprising part is how quickly this practice has taken shape. I picked up a pencil again in 2024 with no real expectation of where it might lead. Since then, each project, opportunity, and person willing to take a chance on my work has opened the door to something new. There are still so many things I want to make, and that sense of possibility is what keeps me creating.
