Jasmine Elizabeth

Abstract Artist | Honeoye Falls, New York

Jasmine is a self-taught abstract artist who pulls her inspiration from a lifelong passion for animals and nature. Born on a farm in Western New York as the second of six siblings, Jasmine’s artistic foundation was built by drawing the animals she cared for each day. By the time she was old enough to join the local Mill for art classes she had already developed a passion for drawing her horses. From soft pastels to acrylic paints, from photo realistic depictions to fluid abstract lines; Jasmine studied the movements of the Herd and captured them in all different designs and mediums as she solidified her own unique style.

While her early years were defined by equestrian competition and local art classes, Jasmine’s path eventually led her into the field of education. After traveling extensively to study global cultures and ancient architecture, she earned a Master’s degree in Social Studies and Historical Education. She then spent a decade in higher education teaching Global and U.S. History, a career that refined her understanding of how culture and nature intertwine over time.

Her transition from the classroom to the studio was sparked by the creation of her signature painting, Galloping Herd. What began as a personal painting of her horses, for her own home, quickly evolved into a demand that gave Jasmine the confidence to pursue her painting full-time. Working primarily with acrylic paints on canvas Jasmine began branching out from horses to cattle then deer, and The Herd Collection was born.

Today, Jasmine’s portfolio remains an intersection of her lifelong connection to animals and nature, and her academic passion for history and culture. Pieces such as Native Herd and her 1973 painting, featuring the 1973 Triple Crown winner, Secretariat, represent more than just visual art; they are meticulously researched tributes that carry deep historical context. Over the years, Jasmine has developed her artwork to consist primarily of animal subjects with a hint of historical context behind the design or name of the painting. Her signature style of minimalistic fluid lines, continuously overlapping one another, represents the connectedness of the whole painting, while containing the individuality of each subject she paints, telling a beautiful story that you can hang on your wall.
